NEWARK, NJ - On Saturday, July 25 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.., Rutgers Veterans Environmental Technology and Solutions (VETS) program will host its first Let’s Grow Newark day at their facility on 555 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Newark. 

Rutgers V.E.T.S is a 8 month, 40-hours per week, intensive certificate program, which trains veterans in sustainable landscaping, horticulture, aquaponics, and entrepreneurship. Participants receive a paid educational stipend, over 1,000 hours of classroom instruction from Rutgers faculty and staff, along with supplemental hands-on training, field trip, and networking opportunities with local industry leaders.  

Organizations from throughout Newark will be joining the event including: 4-H Club’s Urban Farming for Youth; Essex County Community College, Family Success Center, the Urban League, Rutgers’ Nutritionists, and others.
