FAIRFIELD, NJ — Fairfield Police are on the lookout for a burglary suspect in connection with incidents that occurred on April 18 and May 8. Police believe that two suspects were involved and have arrested one, while they ask the public for help in identifying the second suspect.

Hector J. Corazon, 23, of Paterson was arrested and charged by Fairfield police with three counts each of burglary, theft and conspiracy, and one count of possession of burglar tools.

Police said Wednesday that a second suspect, preliminarily identified as Allen Baker, is still being sought in connection with the crimes.

On April 16, at approximately 2:46 p.m., police said that Corazon and Baker went to Jan Pro Cleaning Services at 142 Fairfield Road, at which time Baker entered the facility while a presentation was being made to employees in another part of the building. According to Fairfield Police, he stole a bag containing an iPad, a Mont Blanc pen and a pair of silver cuff links and a tie tac, valued at a total of nearly $1300.

Then, on May 8 at approximately 3:16 p.m., the pair went to the Synergy gas station, located at 572 Route 46 East, where police said that Corazon distracted the attendant while Baker stole approximately $733 in cash and a vehicle diagnostic computer valued at approximately $150.

Detectives Michael Nyhuis and Robert Sanger were able to link the crimes using video surveillance from each location, which revealed the same individuals in a 1995 black Lexus at both scenes.

The investigators were able to get the vehicle’s registration, which led them to Corazon, who was eventually arrested by Fairfield detectives for these incidents on May 27. Corazon was remanded to the Essex County Jail in Newark in lieu of $10,000 bail.

While the second suspect has been preliminarily identified by Corazon as being known to him as Allen Baker, who Corazon said he met near the area of 19th Street and Broadway in Paterson, investigators are still trying to positively identify him, identify where he resides, and are asking the public’s help with this. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Fairfield Police Department’s Investigative Division at (973) 227-1400.

The charges against Corozan are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law.
