PATERSON, N.J. - A second person in under a year, a middle aged male, jumped to their death yesterday at the Great Falls Historic National Park.
Witnesses saw the man jump from the walk bridge near Wayne Avenue at approximately 3:45 p.m., before emergency personnel rushed to the scene. Within 15 minutes of starting their search rescuers found the body near the top of the river.
This latest death is the second to happen in less than a year. In July 2016 a woman leaped to her death after a commotion near the Wayne Avenue bridge.
Police are still investigating the event, and are proceeding with the investigation as a suicide.
