Senators Asks For Support For Holiday Food Drive

Dear Editor,

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, we take into account all that we are grateful for in our lives.  But we should also keep in mind our neighbors who will go without the things we take for granted: family, shelter, food.  We must look for ways in which we can make positive differences in their lives.

To that end, the John A. Girgenti Civic League is holding a food drive at our next meeting: 7:30pm, Tuesday November 20th at the San Giuseppe Hall, 131 Wagaraw Road in Hawthorne.  Everyone is welcome to join us in this effort.  If you are able to donate canned goods and other non-perishable items, they will be distributed to area shelters and food kitchens.  If you can't make it to our meeting but would still like to donate, please contact Pete Oneglia at pete.oneglia@gmail.com.

Your help and generosity will make a positive difference for many people in our area who are in need this Thanksgiving season.  There is no challenge insurmountable when we work together in the spirit of brotherhood, and no power as strong as neighbors helping neighbors. The John A. Girgenti Civic League and I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

John A. Girgenti

When I served on the school board I was able to always reach Ms. Shafer. The lines of communication were ...
