WAYNE, NJ – Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik stands to make a significant profit by selling a house he bought on Hamburg Turnpike two years ago to county government for a road widening project, according to a story on northjersey.com.

The story said Berdnik’s family bought the house for $100,000 in 2011, about a month before the county unveiled its plans to acquire that lot along with 28 others for the road project.

Berdnik said he only became aware of the road project a few months ago, despite the fact that it was addressed at about a dozen public meetings in the past two years, the story said.
