PATERSON, NJ- A Paterson man who sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound late Saturday now faces several domestic violence related charges.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald members of the Paterson Police Department responded to Doremus Street at approximately 12:02 a.m. on Sunday following a reported shooting. Once on the scene, the report reads, the police located the injured Tabiss Sledge, 24, in the area of Doremus Street and Kearney Street.  Sledge was immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.

The report continues that during the shooting investigation Sledge was arrested for charges that stemmed from a domestic violence incident earlier that evening.  It is alleged that Sledge assaulted and damaged the property of a victim. While being advised he was being placed under arrest for the domestic violence charges at the hospital, Mr. Sledge resisted arrest.

Pursuant to the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, the victim will remain unidentified.
