PATERSON, NJ - St. Joseph’s Healthcare System (SJHS), Paterson, NJ, has announced the appointment of Howard Tepper as Vice President for Physician Practices and Ambulatory Services.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Howard Tepper to the leadership team at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System. He brings a broad background in physician practices, medical academics, and healthcare informatics to his new position at St. Joseph’s,” said William A. McDonald, President and Chief Executive Officer at SJHS.

Prior to coming to St. Joseph’s, Mr. Tepper served as Chief Executive Officer for Manhattan’s Physician Group, a multispecialty group of 80 physicians with 7 sites in Manhattan. Previously, he served as Administrator for Physician Services at Hackensack University Medical Center and as the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at Touro University College of Medicine. In addition, he held senior positions in academic medicine and physician practices, including as the Vice Chair and Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical School.

Mr. Tepper holds fellowships in the American College of Medical Practice Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has lectured to physician practices across the country on coding and compliance issues and has presented programs at the national annual conference of the American Healthcare Informatics Association and the Medical Group Management Association.

Mr. Tepper authored two chapters in books on medical practice information systems and is a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Healthcare Financial Management publication. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Information Systems from Queens College and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Healthcare Administration, from Mount Sinai/Baruch College.
