PATERSON, NJ - A city child care program, 4Cs of Passaic County, improperly spent $250,000 in state money on a retirment fund for its director, Mary Ann Mirko, according to a story on northjersey.com.

The state is requiring 4Cs to repay almost $700,000 that was spent on “disallowed” items, the story said. That figure could grow larger as teh state expands its review of the prgram's use of state funding, the story said.

Mirko's retirement account was valued at more than $850,000 in 2009, the story said. The 4Cs program also used state money for improper travel spending, according to the story.
