PATERSON, NJ - Members of the Paterson Police Department’s Narcotics Detectives responded to numerous complaints from concerned citizens who reside in the area of Hamilton Ave between Summer Street and Lake St regarding the rampant narcotics distribution occurring within the area Friday by making 11 arrests.

Of those arrested, Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said, seven were from out of town. In addition to the arrests police recovered 573 glassines of heroin, eight bags of crack cocaine, and six xanax pills. $7,133 in cash was seized as the suspected proceeds from the sale of narcotics.

Included in the arrests was Erick Speight, 22, of Paterson who was said to be in possession of 500 glassines of heroin with the intention of selling them. Clarence Cooper, 42, also of Paterson, was found with 73 glassines of heroin as well as eight bags of crack cocaine, six of which he is said to have sold to another suspect.

Anthony Yildiz, 29, of Dumont, was the third suspect arrested for intent to distribute.

  • John Barkhorn, 36, Sparta 
  • Nicholas Patino, 32, Bergenfield
  • Shawanda Smith, 34, Paterson 
  • Helen Albertson, 35, 
  • Anthony Cotter, Laurence Harbor
  • Ali Zeigler, 30, Morristown
