WESTFIELD, NJ — The 20th Annual Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz Festival, taking place Tuesday nights in July and August from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., continues Aug. 30 with its ninth evening of free outdoor concerts by five bands at locations throughout Downtown Westfield. (Rain date Aug. 31.)

On this last night of the 2016 season, Quimby Street will be closed to traffic to make way for music and  family-friendly activities. For details, click here.

Your complete guide to week nine bands:

East Broad Street and North Avenue West: NoName James & Butterball. Led by guitarist  NoName James, known for searing tones, soaring slides and catchy original rhythms, the band combines a variety of jazz and funk styles and vocals.

Elm Street (in front of the Baptist Church): Ali Ryerson. Ali Ryerson has been a professional jazz flutist for several decades, and throughout that time she has become an internationally renowned artist. She has nearly two dozen albums and has performed with several famous jazz legends. Her breathtaking music has been praised by several jazz reviews.

Central Avenue (in front of Banana Republic): Lauren Shub and the Ilya Maslov Trio. Known for her elegant style and soaring voice, actor/singer Lauren Shub joins the Ilya Maslov Trio for a night of sophisticated jazz. Pianist Ilya Maslov began his career at a very young age, and has since become a well-known and sought-after musician. He performed alongside many famous musicians, including Lenny Walsh and Gloria Gaynor, and has written music for TV.

Quimby Street: Watson. Watson consists of a six-piece horn section and promises to electrify audiences with its creative take on jazz music. Inspired by Maynard Ferguson, the band strives to create new music out of familiar tunes with a combination of classic jazz, funk and rock tunes.

Foundation Park (South Avenue West and Westfield Avenue): Dr. Dubious and the Agnostics. With musical roots in hot jazz and swing styles of the 1920s, Dr. Dubious and the Agnostics performs a range of genres from swing and rock to mainstream jazz. They have performed in many local venues in New Jersey and New York.
