Ocelot made handy use of this momentary security lapse to sneak into the building.

“If the police are hands off, I may as well take a look inside myself,” he thought. “The worst that can happen is that they throw me out.”

But there was no immediate danger of that. Even though the entire building reverberated with the hollow cadences of the giant’s address, there was a live audience of only one: Professor Zicboq himself.

This came as no surprise to Ocelot; he had long suspected that it was he who had been assisting Barribal in his political endeavors. The scientist had his back towards him, and our soldierly little protagonist slipped by him undetected. As he did so, he was able to make out some of the professor’s deliberations: “The timbre could be filled out some more, and I should give that squeaky voice a little more depth so it matches the chair and the footprints...”

These comments prompted Ocelot to look even harder for the broadcasting studio. He entered a short hallway and looked around carefully.

“Barribal must be here somewhere,” he thought. “But the only way forward is that undersized door over there, and no giant would ever fit through that. I’ll take a quick look all the same, though.”

Carefully, very carefully, he turned the doorknob and stuck his head into the room.
