PATERSON, NJ - What started as a routine traffic stop turned into an arrest of a Paterson man on charges of possession of ecstasy Monday, Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik announced.

According to Berdnik, Passaic County Sheriff's Officer Angelo Calabro observed a silver Kia Optima bearing with tinted windows, in violation of State law and stopped it near the intersection of Summer and Van Houten Streets.

Upon speaking to the driver, later identified as Quran Sims, 32, Officer Calabro reportedly detected the odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of the motor vehicle was conducted which yielded positive results for a white plastic zip-lock bag containing suspected Marijuana and two small clear plastic sandwich bags that were said to contain 49 suspected Ecstasy pills inside a fanny pack on the rear seat.
