Two Shot in 4th Ward Saturday Afternoon


PATERSON, NJ - Two city residents, one male and one female, were shot in the city's 4th Ward early Saturday afternoon.

A 30-year-old man was in critical but stable condition and a 21-year-old woman was in stable condition after the incident, which happened around 1:50 p.m., according to police. 

"Paterson Police units were dispatched to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Governor and Carroll Streets in the city’s 4th ward. On arrival, officers located a 21 year old female with a gunshot wound to the buttocks area. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. While still at the scene, a second victim (male) arrived at St. Joseph’s by private vehicle. The victim had sustained several gunshot wounds and was taken to the trauma room for treatment," said Lt. Patrick Murray.

The male victim was shot several times in the upper torso.
