PATERSON, NJ - A 19-year-old city man escaped an armed robbery early Wednesday morning, fighting off the suspects and then running away while the gunman fired two shots at him that missed, police said.

The victim told authorities he was walking near the corner of Union and Wayne avenues at about 3 am when he was aproached by a man and a woman. The man pulled a gun and demanded the victim's money and iPhone, police said.

But the victim resisted and managed to get away without giving up his possessions and without getting hurt, police said.
