Two Women Mugged in 1st Ward on Tuesday

PATERSON, NJ - City police say they are investigating whether two 1st Ward muggings that happened 90 minutes apart Tuesday night were committed by the same man.

In the first incident, a 21-year-old woman told authorities she was walking near the corner of Temple and N. 3rd streets at about 8 pm when a man wearing a hoodies came up from behind her, knocked her to the ground and took her purse, police said.

About 90 minutes later, a 32-year-old woman was robbed of her purse under similar circumstances near 162 West Broadway, police said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the crimes to call Det. Jimmy Maldonado at 973-321-1120.

MONTCLAIR, NJ  –The Montclair Township Animal Shelter (MTAS) has teamed up with NBC 4 New York / WNBC and Telemundo 47 / WNJU to host Clear the Shelters – the second annual nationwide pet adoption drive today, July 23.
