HACKENSACK, NJ -- The Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union, which has roots in Hackensack dating back more than 80 years, and also as a branch in Paterson, will operate out of a new headquarters in the city in two years.
On December 4, city officials and members of the credit union's board of directors donned hard hats during the facility's groundbreaking ceremony. Designed and constructed by PWCampbell, the 11,000 square foot structure, slated to open its doors for business in spring 2021, broke ground on less than an acre site at the intersection of Hudson and Kansas Streets in the city.
According to Glenn Guinto, president and CEO of the $200 million credit union, the new building will be "conducive to collaboration" and foster an atmosphere of education and inspiration among colleagues. Among its amenities, the new facility will boast smart technology to ensure smooth transactions and shorter wait times, and will be home to a full-service branch offering back office lending, ample space for training, a community room for use by members of the union and local organizations, and areas for collaboration among employees.
“We are outgrowing our current facilities,” said Glenn Guinto, president/CEO in a news release. "Today, our talent team is spread out among several offices, and those that are located at our main office are sharing close quarters."
Currently, the not-for-profit financial cooperative serves members in Bergen and Passaic counties and maintains branches in Paramus, Hackensack and Paterson. There are over 5,000 shared branch locations and 85,000 fee-free ATMs around the U.S. Greater Alliance offers the best-in-market rates and a variety of financial services from personal to commercial.
“Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union is not just a bank," said Guinto. "We are a community partner."
