PATERSON, NJ – The Passaic County One-Stop has numerous opportunities for residents to get the help that they need in order obtain employment.
In addition to job training, the One-Stop offers ESL classes for customers that require assistance learning to speak better English. The class, which is taught by instructor Maria Pentarakis, gives clients the language skills and confidence necessary to excel in a career.
One of our customers that has gone on to have great success is Yadira R. Yadira started in Maria’s class with very limited fluency in English,
“I was with Maria in ESL class. I did good. I was practicing English and was able to talk with Maria about whatever I needed. I learned a lot that I never could have done by myself,” said Yadira.
After completing the ESL class, Yadira obtained two positions working as a Home Health Aide, “I applied for the job and I am really happy. I am a Home Health Aide and doing well. I really like the job and am working a second job as well.”
Without the ESL classes, Yadira, like many of our customers, would have struggled to obtain meaningful employment. As a result of her improved language skills, Yadira has been able to secure multiple jobs in the field that she wants to be employed in.
If you or anyone you know is interested in signing up for the ESL classes, please contact the Passaic County One-Stop at 973-340-3400.
