Louie was born on Thanksgiving Day, 1927, in Paterson, NJ and passed away August 1, 2017. He lost his battle with lung cancer in his own home, lovingly cared for by his children, Gina and Rob.
Louie was a Paterson boy until moving to the Beach Haven West section of Manahawkin in 1970. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Stafford Township Department of Public Works for 20 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He lived for family gatherings, Giants football games and old westerns that he saw as a kid at the Majestic Theater.
He is predeceased by his children; Frank, Lois Wheeler, Barbara and John, and his son-in-law Charles Wheeler.
Louie is survived by the love of his life of 44 years, Sandy Cooke Maglio, his children; Gina Emhardt (Dave), Rob Maglio, and John Cooke (Elaina), his daughter-in-law Trish Maglio, his grandchildren; Alecia Escajeda (Rudy), Charles Louis Wheeler (Brittney), Brianna Maglio (Michael Essig Jr.), Michael, Ethan, Audra & Avery Cooke, and his great grandchildren; Rudy & Aiden Escajeda, Lucy & Penny Louise Wheeler, and Brayden Louis Essig.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm with services beginning at 7:15pm.
