PATERSON, NJ - With construction and filming activity for Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story expected to increase in the coming weeks Mayor Andre Sayegh’s office has announced that drivers may need to seek alternate routes and parking.

Specifically, drivers are being advised to avoid the area of the Main and Market Street intersection.

The following streets will be closed and there will be no parking on from Monday, August 12 until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13:


·       Smith Street: Between Main Street and Clark Street/Hamilton Plaza

·       Hamilton Street: Between Market Street and Smith Street

·       Veterans Place: Between Market Street and Smith Street

·       Clark Street: Between Market Street and Smith Street


Market Street between Main Street and Washington Street will also be closed intermittently throughout this time.

The closest lots to downtown for parking will be Paterson Parking Authority Sites 8 and 10.  You can find details and directions here
