PATERSON, NJ - Paterson’s downtown business owners are again getting an increased opportunity to attract customers thanks to the further expansion of sidewalk sales during the spring and summer months.

Starting Friday, local merchants and restaurants can utilize the sidewalks adjacent to their business for merchandise between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. seven days a week until September 30. Sidewalks must remain passable to pedestrians at all times.

According to Orlando Cruz, District Manager of the Downtown Paterson Special Improvement District, while selling products on the sidewalk was previously permissible from late June until Labor Day he worked with Paterson officials to expand the dates from Memorial Day until the end of September in 2019. In 2020 they were further expanded to seven days a week but hampered by the spread of COVID-19.
