PATERSON, NJ - Rise Dispensaries, set to open as the first medical marijuana dispensary in Paterson, is inviting residents to tour their new facility Friday, before they welcome customers, a company statement said. Because the shelves won’t yet be stocked no medical marijuana card will be required for admittance.
The dispensary will begin welcoming patients on Saturday.
Rise dispensaries is owned by Green Thumb Industries (GTI), a national cannabis consumer packaged goods company and retailer, dedicated to providing dignified access to cannabis while giving back to the communities in which they serve.
“We applaud New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh for their leadership, vision and commitment to the medical cannabis community,” said GTI Founder and CEO Ben Kovler. “We are honored to bring jobs and tax revenue to Paterson and to New Jersey and look forward to being active, involved members of the community.”
Sayegh and New Jersey Assistant Commissioner of Health Jeff Brown will be special guests at the ribbon cutting ceremony that is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
“We are incredibly encouraged by the investment GTI has made in Paterson and their commitment to hire Patersonians,” said Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh. “We believe this is just the tip of the iceberg for jobs and financial benefits for our residents connected to the medical cannabis industry.”
Rise Paterson is located at 196 3rd Avenue and will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Last month Rise Dispensaries hosted a job Fair in an effort to recruit Paterson residents as employees.
The dispensary is expected to create up to 150 jobs when at full capacity in 24-36 months, company officials said.
In addition to competitive wages GTI also offers employees of more than 30 hours a week healthcare, dental and vision, a 401k, and stock options after one year.
