PATERSON, NJ- A 69-year-old Paterson woman became the first city resident to die from the coronavirus Sunday, Mayor Andre Sayegh told TAPinto Paterson.

“We mourn the loss of our neighbor, yet we continue to fight this invisible enemy,” Sayegh said, renewing his call for any available health professionals to volunteer to assist at a soon-to-be-opened Passaic County testing center as well as with contact tracing. “I ask Paterson again to come together by staying apart,” he said, referring to the mandate to practice social-distancing.

As of Sunday there are 28 confirmed cases of COVID-19 cases in Paterson and 1,914 in New Jersey according to the city’s chief data officer.
