PATERSON, NJ - Touting Paterson as a “great town” including for its accessiblity to major highways, and therefore vendors and customers, and the ease she’s found coordinating with local officials, Ann Rabbani, CEO of Biogenesis, told TAPinto Paterson that she “couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.”

On Tuesday, with Mayor Andre Sayegh and Councilman Velezon hand to welcome them, and several dozen of the company’s employees ready to celebrate, the multinational cosmetics manufacturer cut the ceremonial ribbon on their completely renovated 62,000 sf facility on Marshall Street.

The new space, Rabbani said, consolidates all of Biogenesis’ operations, manufacturing, packaging and shipping, under one roof. Previously the company, that first opened its doors in New Jersey in 1997 in a Hackensack office that boasted less than one percent of the current space, had employees spread out in four different locations.

Biogenesis has a wide range of customers for whom they manufacture private label products that are sold in national and international department stores, national drug store chains, the internet, QVC, and national catalogs.

Referring to the opening as a “proud moment for Paterson” Mayor Andre Sayegh suggested that by getting back to the city’s history industrial past a brighter future is ahead. “Manufacturing put us on the map, it’s what’s going to help us get back on the map, that’s why we are so energized.”

Thanking company leadership for making an investment in Paterson Sayegh added that “you are now adding to our history because you are part of our future.”

“This is about the faces behind me,” 5th Ward Councilman Luis Velez said pointing to the Biogenesis employees that helped fill the room. The salaries and benefits they earn thanks to their jobs, Velez reiterated after the event, translates into food, healthcare, and stable housing for Paterson families.

Under the terms of a support package Biogenesis received through the Grow NJ program under the direction of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) to prevent the their relocation to Orangeburg, NY, the company was required to create at least 16 new jobs, a figure that has already been exceeded, and will, according to company officials, continue to increase.

“We intend to continue growing, to hire people from the neighborhood, that’s important to us” Rabbani said.
