TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy used part of his press briefing Tuesday to honor Dr. Gerald Glisson. Dr. Glisson, Eastside High School’s Principal of Operations, died Sunday of COVID-19. He was 46.
Referring to Glisson as “a giant,” Murphy would reflect that through his career, including as a special education teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal at Great Falls Academy, Glisson was “a beloved, respected presence, not to mention a role model.”
Murphy reflected that Glisson leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Michelle, and two daughters, Sydney and Skylar, 17 and 12, his parents, and “countless family and friends.” Glisson should be remembered, Murphy said Michelle told him, as "an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend who cherished family and friendships.”
Superintendent Eileen Shafer has announced that a Virtual Grief Counseling center has been launched to help anyone who may need help while grieving the loss of the “longtime Paterson educator, friend and community member.”
