PATERSON, NJ - Paterson’s public schools will be closed from Tuesday, March 17th through Tuesday, March 31, district officials announced on Saturday. Staff, students, and administrators should report to school on Monday, March 16th, for a regular school day, at the end of which packets for at home instruction will be distributed.
While officials had residents closing schools previously they had been taking the necessary steps, Superintendent Eileen Shafer said at a Friday press conference hosted by Mayor Andre Sayegh, and were “prepared” for the possible eventuality.
Just hours before the decision to shutter the city’s public schools became official a plan to distribute meals to eligible students was also announced and reported on by TAPinto Paterson.
