PATERSON, NJ - Local women seeking to get back into the classroom to earn a GED, learn English, or improve their workplace skills are invited to register for fall classes at Paterson non-profit Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children.
The organization has announced that registration for September starts on Tuesday, August 6.
A non-profit social service agency which serves over 700 women and children in their Mill Street headquarters daily, Oasis focuses on empowering women and children to break the cycle of poverty. Their approach is a holistic one Jen Brady, the organization’s executive director has said previously, helping women meet many of the demands of parenthood by providing not just the education but also childcare and meals.
Childcare is available for all women taking classes.
There is a $25 registration fee for the first course, and $10 fee for each additional course, and registration is available at Oasis, 59 Mill Street, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. as follows:
Tuesday, August 6
Wednesday, August 7
Friday, August 9
Tuesday, August 13
Wednesday August 14
Friday, August 16
All prospective students will be given a placement test on the day of registration to help Oasis teachers learn the best course level for each individual.
