PATERSON, NJ - The Paterson Board of Education will maintain their same leadership for 2021.

At a Wednesday meeting, Board members once again selected Kenneth Simmons and Manny Martinez to serve as president and vice president of the legislative body. Both filled the same roles throughout 2020.

Commissioners Dr. Jonathan Hodges and Kenneth Simmons were also both sworn in to new three-year terms while newcomer Dania Martinez, the top vote-getter in November’s election, took the oath for the first time.

Former Commissioner Joel D Ramirez, unsuccessful in his bid for reelection, was commended by Superintendent Eileen Shafer for his service during his three-year term. Specifically, Shafer said, Ramirez put forward efforts to close the digital divide for Paterson students.
