PATERSON, NJ- Eastside and JFK High Schools as well as Senator Frank R Lautenberg School 6, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Educational Complex School 30, and Paterson Schools 20 and 24 will operate under “shelter in place mode on Thursday.
According to a telephone recording from Paterson Public Schools the decision was made after district officials were “alerted to threats” at those schools late Wednesday.
On Wednesday 15 Paterson schools operated under similar conditions. While instruction will continue, the recording informed, students and staff will not be able to leave the school building. Additionally, no outdoor activities will take place at these schools and all after school activities at these schools are canceled.
“The safety of students, staff, and all visitors to our schools must always be our top priority,” the recording continued.”
Law enforcement, including the Paterson Police Department, the Passaic County Sheriff’s and Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey State Police are investigating the threats which are reported to have appeared on social media.
