PATERSON, NJ - Concerned that nurses and hospital support staff in inner city neighborhoods weren’t receiving the same level of appreciation and support as their colleagues working in hospitals in and around high income areas, the owners of three Bergen County restaurants “set out to change that as they are doing the same work and are equally exposed to this horrible virus.”

“This is why we are raising funds through our guests to help us deliver our nutritious and wholesome meals to St. Joseph’s Regional in Paterson,” Tim Banos of Playa Bowls said in an email to TAPint Paterson.

Banos added that to date almost 200 meals have been distributed with the assistance of Janine Llamzon, Nursing Director of Emergency Department at St. Joseph’s Health who grew emotional when expressing her appreciation for the community’s support in a Facebook Live video with Mayor Andre Sayegh last week.

“We are coming to work for you, we are here for you, we love you, we will overcome,” Llamzon said at the time.

“It really is amazing that our guests have rallied behind this mission to help show our inner city health heroes some love too,” Banos said concluding that in addition to the meals already distributed funds have been raised at their Franklin Lakes store to distribute 250 more.
