PATERSON, NJ - As we come up on month five of being quarantined in our homes & businesses being shut down, the YMCA of Paterson has served food packages to over six hundred plus families from the community. On distribution days the line wraps around two corners to their building at 128 Ward Street.
Gerard Gilliam, CEO, says they started with 63 bags the first week but as the turnout started to grow the they ended up getting three hundred plus boxes of pre-packaged food & fresh produce. Distribution is done with social distancing in mind and can be done by staying in yout care or walking up curbside.
YMCA leadership said that they have always been a neighborhood staple when it comes to after school & summer programs, making sure that parents, children & the community at large are treated like family. Everyone, they say, is welcomed with love.
Food distribution will take place again today starting at 2:00 p.m. and until supplies last.
