PATERSON, NJ - The Passaic County Central Labor Council, IBEW Local 827, and the Ziploc Gang continued their tradition of giving back to the children of Paterson during the holiday season when they visited Eva's Village recently to distribute more than 100 gifts to children currently living there. Taking a break from his North Pole duties, Santa Claus also joined the men and women of the unions to spread holiday cheer.

"The Labor movement has an obligation to not only help other union members but also those less fortunate, IBEW Local 827 Business Agent and Passaic County Central Labor Council officer Tom Kelly explained. “Partnering with Eva's Village, an organization that does a great job helping so many was an honor to us.”

Kelly added that he and his fellow union brothers and sisters look forward to not only continuing their service to the community but building on it. “Seeing the reaction of the kids is priceless and working with the Ziploc Gang has been great and inspirational.”

Relaying a story about members of the Ziploc Gang offering the sweatshirts to children who asked for them Kelly said that “they literally took the sweatshirts off their backs.”

Kevin Pruiksma and Matt Herrmann of the Ziploc Gang added that “the reward for giving back is the expression on the kids faces when they see Santa and open their gifts. That's what it's all about.”

The same organizations plan on visiting Martin De Porres homes next week.
