PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson Board of Health employee was arrested Wednesday and charged with theft, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.

In a statement Valdes announced that Paris D. Washington, 46, stole funds remitted to the Board of Health by the public to pay for birth certificates and copies of other documents. The thefts, the statement said, took place for nearly five years and were in excess of $75,000.

Washington, facing up to 10 years in court, is scheduled back in court on October 25.
