PATERSON, NJ - A 22-year-old Clifton man faces several charges related to his alleged possession of, and intent to distributed, marijuana following his arrest in Paterson early Sunday.

According to a statement by Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik, Passaic County Sheriff’s Officer Jason Michaels observed the suspect’s parked vehicle near the intersection of Spruce Street and Morris Street. After approaching the car with K( Officer Keith Heyman, Michaels is said to have recognized the suspect, identified as Andres Aguilar, from a prior drugs related arrest.

The officers reported smelling a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle with Michaels discovering a large clear mason jar containing several individual bags of a greenish-brown vegetative substance of suspected marijuana inside the car.

Aguillar was placed under arrest without further incident.
