NEWARK, NJ –  A 28-year-old Paterson man was in federal court Tuesday to plead guilty to conspiring to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

According to court documents, on February 20 Acevedo took possession of a parcel that had been shipped to him at an address in Clifton, believing the parcel contained narcotics, which he planned to deliver to a conspirator. Prior to his receipt of the package law enforcement had interrupted its delivery and removed the 997 grams of fentanyl contained within.

Acevedo faces life in prison and a fine of up to $10 million when he is sentenced on March 2, 2020.
