PATERSON, NJ - A 37-year-old Hawthorne man was arrested faces up to 20 years in state prison following his arrest Thursday in connection with an early morning incident that has left an unidentified man in critical condition at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center. 

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora an investigation conducted by the Paterson Police Department led to the Attempted Murder charge against Tyheem T. Jones.

The report states that at approximately 4:00 a.m. in the day of the incident members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Auburn Street and Godwin Avenue on report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival officers observed Jones "pacing back and forth in the middle of the street while breathing heavily and sweating profusely." Police  also observed Mr. Jones looking in the direction of a pair of sneakers by a motor vehicle. When police approached the motor vehicle, they located a male victim lying on the ground with a large gash on the right side of his head.
