PATERSON, NJ- A 24-year-old Paterson man has been arrested following an investigation by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crime Against Children Task Force.
According to Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik, law enforcement officials received information about an individual using a Wi-Fi access point registered to a business establishment in Paterson to distribute video files of child pornography, via the Internet.
An investigation was launched, and, by utilizing various tools available to law enforcement, detectives were able to obtain additional videos and image files of child pornography stored in the individual’s Internet based photo account. Information received from the suspect’s account also revealed numerous selfies of the suspect.
After the suspect was identified, but not located, he posted a video of himself working at a car wash in Woodland Park on Tuesday leading detectives to arrest Edwin R. Olivares-Ordonez. Through a search he consented to, detectives are said to have found additional images of child pornography on his phone.
After his arrest Olivares-Ordonez was transported to Passaic County Jail.
