PATERSON, NJ - A 15-year-old Paterson boy has been charged in connection with a car crash that that took place in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to a statement by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, and Haledon Police Chief Angelo J. Daniele, the incident started at about 1:30 a.m. when a Haledon Police Officer attempted to pull over a 2007 Saab 9  that had been previously reported stolen.

Reports indicate that the the vehicle fled, causing a pursuit that finally ended when the stolen vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Getty Avenue and Hospital Plaza.

The 15-year-old driver now faces charges, that if committed by an adult, would constitute two counts of Aggravated Assault, Second Degree; Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer, Second Degree, and Receiving Stolen Property, Third Degree. 

While one passenger fled the scene a second occupant, 16, was transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
