PATERSON, NJ - An arrest has been made in connection with the stabbing death of a 52-year-old Paterson man in the early hours of Monday.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, Henry Rivera, 31, surrendered himself without incident at Paterson Police headquarters just hours after he allegedly stabbed Arthur Clauser.
In the statement, the law enforcement officials report that members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area outside the residence located at 24 Ward Street in response to a report of an injured person. Upon their arrival, police discovered Clauser with an apparent stab wound.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he later succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. The subsequent investigation revealed that Clauser and Rivera were together with a group of friends outside that location when they became engaged in a verbal altercation.
The verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight, during which Rivera is said to have stabbed Clauser in the torso and fled the scene.
