PATERSON, NJ- A 43-year-old Paterson woman was shot and killed Friday while making a food delivery as a driver for the popular food app Door Dash.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, members of the Paterson Police Department were called to the area of Harrison Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard at approximately 10:22 p.m. on a report of shots fired.
Once on scene officers discovered the victim, Petra Rhoden, in the driver’s seat of her vehicle which had just crashed through a fence and struck a shed. Officers discovered that Rhoden had an apparent gunshot wound and immediately started CPR before she was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center by Paterson Fire Department EMS.
Despite efforts Rhodes died from her wounds a short time later.
An initial investigation has revealed that Rhoden was making a Door Dash food delivery in the area of 259 Harrison Street where she was shot. After being shot she drove off before crashing a short distance away.
