PATERSON, NJ - The quiet of an Easter afternoon was shattered Sunday when a 22-year-old man was shot in the area of Park Avenue, according to law enforcement officials.

The Sunday shooting follows similar incidents on both Friday and Saturday that left a total of four Paterson men injured, including three at the incident in the area of Grand Street. The Friday shooting led to the arrest of Wayne A. Smith, 37, Paterson. 

In a statement Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that members of the Paterson Police Department were called to the scene on a report of shots fired at approximately 4:33 p.m.

Upon arrival police located evidence of a crime scene, but were unable to locate a victim. A short time later, the statement reads, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a victim had arrived at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
