PATERSON, NJ – Eight Paterson residents were arrested during a multi-day narcotics sweep said the Paterson Police Department in a report issued on Monday. An additional four arrests were also made, according to the report.

"The men and women of the narcotics division will continue to conduct sweeps to rid the city of illegal drugs," stated Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale.                                                  

Among the charges against those arrested between Oct. 3 and Oct. 9 are possession and  intent to distribute marijuana, heroin, cocaine and MDMA within 1000 ft. of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, and aggravated assault against a law enforcement official.

Two were also charged with possession of a semi-automatic pistol and 14 hollow point bullets.

A total of $5671 was recovered during the sweep as drug proceeds.
