PATERSON, NJ - Paterson police have arrested two men, and three juveniles, in connection with a string of armed robberies that took place within about 90 minutes of each other on Saturday.

According to Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale, Sammy Cromartie, 21, Paterson, was the first suspect arrested on Wednesday.

The following day, Speziale added, Shamar Taylor, 18, was arrested along with the three juveniles, all 17 years old. All five suspects were charged with the armed robberies of a gas station, restaurant, a nail salon, and one other business, as well with weapons offenses.

Speziale further reported that Darrell Fields, 29, and Sha'asla Taylor, 27, as well as a 16-year-old female, were arrested for interfering with the arrests.  

“Crime does not pay in Paterson,” Mayor Andre Sayegh said in a statement in which Speziale also praised the detectives, under the leadership of Captain Stanley Rodriguez for making the arrests. “I commend our police department for their stellar work in bringing these thieves to justice.”
