PATERSON, NJ - Paterson’s new police chief, Ibrahim “Mike” Baycora, was officially sworn in Saturday during a ceremony in Mayor Andre Sayegh’s office. Raised and education in Paterson, Baycora is a 32-year veteran of the Paterson Police Department.
“Chief Baycora has distinguished himself at every rank of the Paterson Police Department, and has proven himself to be a committed public servant,” Mayor Andre Sayegh told TAPinto Paterson. “Making sure residents and visitors are, and feel, safe is our top priority. I’m proud of my historic appointment of Chief Baycora and know he is the right person to lead our police department through what will be a time of growth and technological advance.”
Also praising Baycora for his experience was City Council President Maritza Davila who added that she is “hopeful” and looks forward to working with he and his team “to better Paterson.”
