PATERSON, NJ - A 20-year-old Massachusetts man faces up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison following his arrest in connection with a violent incident that took place in the area of North 4th Street on February 6.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, Jeffrey Acosta, 20, was arrested Thursday after an investigation identified him as a suspect in the incident that left an 18-year-old man hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.

On the day of the incident, authorities say, police responded to the scene on a report of shots fired. Upon the victim was found inside a home and a canvass found both a spent shell casing and bullet one the sidewalk outside as well as a trail of blood that led to the home’s backdoor. The initial investigation determined that there were two actors involved and one of the actors possessed a handgun.
