PATERSON, NJ - A 31-year-old Paterson man was shot and killed in the early hours of Saturday, according to law enforcement.

In a statement, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announced that members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Godwin Avenue and Summer Street on a report of shots fired at approximately 5:22 a.m.

Upon arrival officers discovered the victim, Jacquese Mills, lying on the sidewalk outside 59 Godwin Avenue. Mills was pronounced deceased on scene.

A second overnight shooting, this one believed to be in the area of 15th Avenue, is also under investigation after a 21-year-old Paterson man arrived at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center  just after midnight seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
