PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson couple are dead after an apparent murder-suicide, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald.

In a statement the law enforcement officials announced that members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a residence at 263 East 16th Street at approximately 9:30 am on Sunday on a report of the discovery of the two bodies.

An initial investigation revealed that Alejo Batista, 49, stabbed his wife Estafani Hernandez, 31, to death before taking his own life.

While the matter remains under investigation  law enforcement officials have assured there is no danger to the public.
