PATERSON, NJ - A 33-year-old Paterson man is under arrest in New York following a shooting in the area of Carroll Street that sent the victim to a hospital in the Bronx for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot wound Monday.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, David Polanco, 33, was identified as the shooter and has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Second Degree; Aggravated Assault, Fourth Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Second Degree; and Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, Second Degree.
The incident unfolded at approximately 2:57 a.m. Monday when members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Carroll Street on a report of shots fired, but were unable to locate a victim. At approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the New York City Police Department advised the Paterson Police Department that a local man had arrived at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital at approximately 3:30 a.m.
Polanco was arrested at the New York City Police Department 52nd Precinct and faces up to 10 years in prison for the most serious offense.
