PATERSON, NJ - An 18-year-old Paterson man was arrested on Saturday and charged with gun possession and fleeing from police just days before.

Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale announced that police officers assigned to the COVID-19 Enforcement detail were on patrol in the area of North Main Street and Jefferson Street at approximately 5:10 p.m. when they recognized Memphis Morales from the Tuesday incident.

On that day, Speziale said, Morales fled from police, throwing a 9 mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine that was recovered by pursuing officers as they gave chase. Morales, Speziale said, was wearing the same clothes when he was arrested as he was the day of the incident.
