PATERSON, NJ - A 25-year-old Paterson man who arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday has succumbed to gunshot wounds he received in the area of 207 12th Avenue, authorities have announced.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, police officers responded to  a call of shots fired, and, upon arrival, found a crime scene but no victim. Shortly thereafter police were informed that Shakeem Ricks, 25, had been transported to St. Joseph’s in a personal vehicle. 

This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
