PATERSON, NJ - A 65-year-old Paterson man was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing Main Street on Wednesday.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, the incident took place at approximately 1:55 p.m. when the victim was struck by a Ford F450 being operated by Jose Alexandro Cordero Ramirez, 62.

A Maryland resident, Cordero Ramirez remained on the scene and presented a valid driver’s license.

The victim, Rey Gaspar Ramirez Cano was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m. after being transferred to Saint Joseph’s University Hospital.
